Fanon, Merleau-Ponty and the Difference of Phenomenology (UNCC Philosophy Club - 2/9)

This is a unique discussion led by Dr. Joseph Winters, of the religious studies department, that focuses on the work of Jeremy Weate. The topic covered will be the phenomenological( phenomenology being the philosophy of perception) aspects of Fanon's "Black Skin, White Masks", particularly, how a phenomenological aspect of race is formed and viewed. In particula,r how the phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty can be viewed through this concetp Dr. Winters will discuss this from his background and mindset and hope to connect, through both a discussion and presentation, on how the corporal body is inherently viewed through the guise of phenomenology. In particular, how the notion of the subject is developed and from this ideas of race.
